On Monday the 29th of August 2022, PASI organized a camp court targeting homicide remandees whose cases had been stagnating without accessing timely justice.
Hon Justice Mtalimanja presided over 26 bail applications, which she granted bail to 24 remandees, and denied bail to 2. Out of those granted bail were 6 women, 2 of which were heavily pregnant.
"For the 04th of September 2022 at Dedza Prison, PASI has further filed certificates of none compliance on separate applications for some 16 other remandees who did not appear before the Hon Justice on Monday" Alfred Munika (PASI Paralegal Team Leader- Central Region).
"Early next month of September, PASI has also arranged for -prisons decongestion- Camp courts in the eastern region at Zomba Central prison, Domasi prison, Ntcheu prison, and Mangochi prison where prison overcrowding is unhealthy" Alexander Mwandira (PASI Paralegal Team Leader- Eastern Region)
